At Sensors Expo 2016, MICRONOR unveiled the MR386 ZapFree™ Microswitch, the world’s first fiber optic micro switch, purposely designed to meet the challenging requirements of MRI, medical and industrial applications. Engineers will appreciate the product’s interchangeability with the familiar, industry standard V15-series electrical micro switch. The MR386 FO Micronor Switch would go on to win First Place for 2017 ECN IMPACT Award for most innovative Electromechanical/Mechanical Device.
The Micronor MR386 outperforms conventional electrical micro switches and limit switches. The entirely non-electrical, totally-passive sensor provides EMI and RFI immunity, isolation from high voltage and lightning, inherent safety in explosive atmospheres, and can operate interference-free over very long distances – up to 1500 meters.
Two models are offered – Industrial and MRI Safe. The Industrial model targets the most challenging environments while the non-metallic MRI Safe model was purposely designed for use inside the bore and is magnetically invisible to the imaging process. Both Normally Open and Normally Closed optical configurations are available depending on the nature of the application.
The AR606 FO Key Switch is a MR386-based design based on the high security BiLock® key mechanism. It was originally designed for a Defence Contractor who needed ho needed a high security operator interlock for their mobile missile defence systems. Unique keying was the crucial criteria to ensure the missile system could not be armed before both operators enabled the system from a safe distance using their personal key. Typically thet are used in series with MR387 E-Stop or other MR386-based interlocked sensors.
